“Making friends in Cambridge shouldn’t be hard.”

Cambridge Girls Circle has grown so much that we now cover the whole of Cambridgeshire.

Meet the Founder

Hi, I’m Joyce — the founder of Cambridge Girls Circle.

I created this community because I know exactly what it feels like to want deeper friendships but not know where to find them. I’ve been the girl who felt out of place. The girl who wanted connection but didn’t want to force it. The girl who knew there had to be more than just scrolling and hoping.

Cambridge Girls Circle is my way of creating the space I wish existed when I needed it most.

This isn’t just an events page to me. It’s personal.
It’s about giving women a safe space they can belong without pretending to be someone they’re not.

If you’ve ever felt lonely, unsure, or like you’re “behind” socially, you’re exactly who this is for.

You don’t need to change.
You don’t need to be braver.
You just need a place to start.

I love getting to know all of you. If you ever feel like you need to talk, feel free to message me.

Our Story

Cambridge Girls Circle was created for one simple reason:
“Making friends as an adult shouldn’t feel this hard.”

So many of us move to new cities, leave university, change jobs, or go through life changes and suddenly realise we don’t actually have a solid circle around us anymore. Everyone seems busy. Everyone already has “their people”. And walking into places alone can feel intimidating.

Cambridge Girls Circle was born out of that exact feeling.

What started as a small idea to bring women together in real life has grown into a community built on connection, kindness and confidence. A place where you can show up alone and leave knowing at least one new face. A place where awkward first hellos turn into real friendships.

No cliques. No pressure. Just a genuine community.

Cambridge Girls Circle is built on a few simple values:

  • • A safe, welcoming space for women
    • No judgement, no competition
    • You don’t need to “fit in” to belong
    • Everyone is welcome exactly as they are
    • Real conversations over small talk
    • Connection over comparison

This is not about being the loudest in the room or the most confident.
It’s about feeling seen, included and supported.

  • Cambridge Girls Circle is for you if:

    • You’re new to Cambridge
    • You want to expand your social circle
    • You feel shy or awkward going to events alone
    • You work a lot and struggle to meet people
    • You want meaningful friendships, not just followers
    • Our community is mainly women in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond.

You don’t need to bring a friend.
You don’t need to be outgoing.
You just need to show up.

  • We host regular in-person events every month designed to make meeting people easy and natural, including:

    • Speed friending
    • Coffee and walk meetups
    • Brunch dates
    • Cocktail nights
    • Creative workshops
    • Seasonal socials

All events are structured to avoid awkwardness and help everyone feel included.

We also share guides, tips and local recommendations to help women feel more connected to life in Cambridge — whether that’s solo café spots, confidence tips, or friendship advice.

Accessibility & Inclusivity

Cambridge Girls Circle is committed to creating events that are welcoming and inclusive for women of all abilities.

We aim to choose venues that are as accessible as possible and to consider mobility, sensory and visibility needs when planning our events.

However, as many of our events take place in independent cafés, restaurants and local venues across Cambridge, accessibility features may vary. Some locations may have limitations such as:

• Steps at the entrance
• Narrow doorways or walkways
• Limited wheelchair access
• Low lighting
• Background noise

We encourage anyone with specific access needs, including wheelchair users, individuals who use mobility aids, those who are visually impaired, or those with sensory sensitivities, to contact us before booking. We are always happy to share venue details and make reasonable adjustments where possible.

We understand that accessibility looks different for everyone. Whether you use a cane, mobility aid, require seating support, or need additional assistance, please let us know how we can support you.

We will always do our best to accommodate and communicate clearly.
